In the January to September 2015 period

Poultry meat registered a year-on-year growth; landed catch, egg production and livestock slaughtherings decreased

In the first nine months of 2015, the poultry meat totalled 2,989.6 tonnes, growing by 2.6% compared to the same period of 2014. The egg production stood at 17.3 million units, decreasing by 3.1% year-on-year.

Between January and September 2015, the weight of the slaughtered livestock decreased by 7.7% year-on-year.

The data on landed catch show a decrease in the first nine months of 2015 (-28.6% in volume and -10.1% in first sale receipts),  compared to the same period last year.

This drop was driven by the decrease in the catch of tuna and tuna-like species (-43.1% in volume and -26.0% in value, compared to the same period of 2014). Black-scabbard fish has also been less abundant during the first nine months of 2015 (-2.7% in volume) but its first sale receipts rose (+12.2%).
