In the 2nd quarter of 2020
The aggregate of withdrawals and purchases through automatic payment terminals of the SIBS network in the region reached 450.3 million euros
Data provided by the Interbank Services Company (SIBS) for the Autonomous Region of Madeira, are now based on new data flows, so the conventional sign “Revised value” is included in this release of information regarding the data for the 1st quarter of 2021 as well as different explanatory notes for ATM and POS, seeking to justify the differences observed from January 2021. In this context, the information released now covers the operations carried at ATM terminals throughout the SIBS network and not only in the ATM network, as well as the concept of active ATM has been slightly adjusted, covering operations on digital/online channels. Thus, the current data are not comparable with those of 2020.
The data for the second quarter of 2021 show that the amounts related to the two main operations of the SIBS network (withdrawals and purchases through automatic payment terminals), taken as a whole, reached an amount of 450.3 million euros, 400.8 million euros with national cards and 49.5 million euros with international cards
Withdrawals totalled EUR 168.3 million, of which EUR 160.0 million with national cards and EUR 8.3 million with international cards.
In turn, purchases through automatic payment terminals (POS) were around 282.0 million euros, between April and June 2021, of which 240.8 million were with national cards and 41.2 million with international cards.
In the aforementioned period, payments totalled 40.8 million euros.

The analysis of data by municipality shows that in Funchal withdrawals and purchases in aggregate stood at 271.0 million euros, which corresponds to 60.2% of the total of the region. On the other hand, Porto Moniz was the municipality with the lowest figure in this indicator, 2.3 million euros.
