In the 1st quarter of 2022
Trade balance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries was positive, standing at 23.5 million euros
According to preliminary data, in the 1st quarter of 2022, the Region’s trade balance on goods with foreign countries recorded a surplus of 23.5 million euros, higher than in the same period of the previous year (15.8 million euros). This represents a coverage rate of imports by exports of 141.2%, higher than that recorded in the first three months of 2021, which stood at 139.4%.
In the first three months of 2022, exports totalled 80.4 million euros, having increased by 43.9% compared to the first quarter of 2021 (65.1% destined for Countries inside the EU), while imports reached 56.9 million euros, up by 42.1% compared to the same period of the previous year (77.8% of which coming from the EU).
