In the first six months of 2018
Main fuels released for consumption increased by 3.3% year-on-year
In the first six months of 2018, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 71.1 million litres, increasing by 3.3% compared to the same period of 2017. 51.0 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 4.9% over the same half of the previous year. In the case of gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline dropped by 3.3% while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 10.1%. The sales of these fuels were 15.8 and 4.3 million litres, respectively.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 8.1 (+3.4% than in the same period of the previous year) and 3.5 thousand tonnes (-3.5%), respectively. 8.8 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 0.8% when compared with the same period of 2017.
Taking in consideration the second quarter of 2018, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 36.6 million litres, increasing by 2.5% compared to the same period of 2017. 26.3 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption between April and June 2018, up by 4.7% over the year-ago period. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline declined by 4.5%, while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 4.4%. The sales of these fuels were 8.1 and 2.2 million litres, respectively.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 3.3 (+8.2% than in the same period of the previous year) and 1.9 thousand tonnes (+7.0%), respectively. 3.5 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the second quarter of 2018, down by 19.4% when compared with the same period of 2017.

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.266, higher than the price registered in the corresponding quarter of 2017 (€1.181). Compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel shows an increase of 4.3 cents.
The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.521, 7.8 cents above the price of the 2nd quarter of 2017 and 5.6 cents higher than in the previous quarter.
