In the first nine months of 2018
Main fuels released for consumption increased by 0.8% year-on-year
In the first nine months of 2018, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totaled 108.5 million litres, increasing by 0.8% compared to the same period of 2017. 77.5 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 2.0% over the same period of the previous year. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline dropped by 4.6% while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 8.0%. The sales of these fuels were 24.3 and 6.7 million litres, respectively.
Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane stood at 12.0 (+10.4% than in the same period of the previous year) and 4.5 thousand tonnes (-15.1%), respectively. 15.0 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the reference period, up by 2.5% when compared with the same period of 2017.
Taking in consideration the third quarter of 2018, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totaled 37.4 million litres, decreasing by 3.7% year-on-year. 26.5 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption between July and September 2018, down by 3.2% over the year-ago period. In the case of the gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline decreased by 7.1%, while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 4.5%. The sales of these fuels were 8.5 and 2.4 million litres, respectively. Also 6.2 thousand tonnes of natural gas were released for consumption in the third quarter of 2018, up by 5.0% when compared with the same period of 2017.
Average prices in the third quarter of 2018 on the rise
In the 3rd quarter of 2018, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.286, higher than the price registered in the corresponding quarter of 2017 (€1.141). Compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel shows an increase of 2.0 cents.
The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.525, 9.2 cents above the price of the 3rd quarter of 2017 and 0.4 cents higher than in the previous quarter.
