DREM releases the publication “Enterprise Sector of the Autonomous Region of Madeira 2013”
In 2013 there were 23,451 enterprises in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, a 12.9% increase compared to the previous year.
In the reference year, the enterprise sector of the Autonomous Region of Madeira employed 64.1 thousand persons, down by 1.9% from the previous year. This trend was particularly noticed in the financial sector (-7.7%) and in companies (-7.5%).
In 2013, the turnover generated by Madeira’s enterprises topped 4,546.9 million Euros, dropping by 9.6% from 2012. Both the financial (-28.2%) and non-financial (-5.9%) sectors contributed to this result. The most noticeable decreases occurred in large enterprises (-16.6%) and in companies (-9.9%).
The Gross Value Added at market prices (GVApm) stood at 1,278.8 million Euros, declining by 8.0% from 2012. The biggest drops took place in the financial sector (-24.9%) and in large enterprises (-20.6%).
