Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases time series on temperature and precipitation
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) releases today on its official statistics website an update of the time series on temperature and precipitation, now including the year of 2013.
In the abovementioned period, the year with the highest rainfall was 2010, reaching 535.3 mm in Funchal and 588.4 mm in Porto Santo.
In 2013, the annual precipitation stood at 495.9 mm in Funchal (528.1 mm in 2012) and 348.3 mm in Porto Santo (554.1 mm in 2012) . The number of rainless days was higher in Funchal (288 days, 5 more than in 2012 ) than in Porto Santo (244 days, 15 less than in the previous year).
March was the month with the highest rainfall in Funchal (248.2 mm). In Porto Santo, the rainiest month was November (82.0 mm).
In Funchal, in the last 37 years, the annual average temperatures ranged between 18.1ºC (in 1976 and in 1984) and 20.6ºC (in 2004). In Porto Santo, this indicator reached its lowest in 2004 (17.6ºC) and its highest in 2010 and 2012 (19.4ºC for both years).
August 2004 was the warmest month in the period 2004-2013, with maximum monthly average temperatures of 28.8ºC in Funchal and 27.8ºC in Porto Santo.
