DREM releases time series on temperature and precipitation including data for 2014
Between 1976 and 2014, the year with the highest rainfall was 2010 - 1,535.3 mm in Funchal and 588.4 mm in Porto Santo.
In 2014, the annual precipitation stood at 481.6 mm in Funchal (495.9 mm in 2013) and 483.3 mm in Porto Santo (348.3 mm in 2013) . The number of rainless days was higher in Funchal (282 days, down by 6 from 2013 ) than in Porto Santo (224 days, down by 20 from the previous year).
November was the month with the highest rainfall both in Funchal (111.5 mm) and Porto Santo (98.6 mm).
In Funchal, in the last 38 years, the annual average temperatures ranged between 18.1ºC (in 1976 and in 1984) and 20.6ºC (in 2004). In Porto Santo, this indicator reached its lowest point in 2004 (17.6ºC) and its highest point in 2010 and 2012 (19.4ºC for both years).
August was the warmest month in the reference year in both meteorological stations with medium monthly average temperatures of 23.8ºC in Funchal and 23.6ºC in Porto Santo. By contrast, February was the coldest month with medium monthly average temperatures of 16.7ºC in Funchal and 15.6ºC in Porto Santo.
August 2004 was the warmest month in the 2004-2013 period, with maximum monthly average temperatures of 28.8ºC in Funchal and 27.8ºC in Porto Santo.
