Confidence indicator in Manufacturing increased, while in Construction and Public Works, Trade, and Services it decreased
According to information collected by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) through the Qualitative Business Surveys (QBS), it was observed that in September 2025, the confidence indicator in the Manufacturing sector increased compared with the previous month, while in Construction and Public Works, Trade, and Services it decreased.
The confidence indicator in Manufacturing rose in September, after having decreased in August. The evolution of the indicator was due to the positive contribution of all components: opinions regarding the evolution of overall demand, assessments of finished goods stocks, and production prospects. The balance of expectations regarding selling prices decreased in both August and September, after having stabilised in the previous month.
In Construction and Public Works, the confidence indicator decreased in September, following an increase between June and August. The most recent evolution reflected the negative contribution of assessments regarding the order book and employment prospects. The balance of expectations regarding the enterprise’s selling prices over the next three months decreased in both August and September, after having risen in July.
In Trade, the confidence indicator decreased in both August and September, following an increase in the preceding month. The September evolution of the indicator resulted from the negative contribution of sales volume and assessments of business activity prospects, with stock volumes contributing positively. The balance of expectations regarding future price developments decreased in September, after having risen in the previous month.
In Services, the confidence indicator decreased in July, August, and September, following an increase in the preceding five months. The evolution of the indicator resulted from the negative contribution of all components: demand evolution prospects, opinions on the past evolution of the order book, and assessments of business activity. The balance of expectations regarding service prices has decreased in the last five months, after having increased in April.
