In the 3th quarter of 2015
Unemployment rate was estimated at 14.7%
The Labour Force Survey results for the 3th quarter of 2015 indicate that the unemployment rate for Madeira was estimated at 14.7%. This value is up by 1.1 percentage points (p.p.) from the previous quarter (13.6%) and also up by 1.7 p.p. from same quarter of 2014 (13.0%).
The unemployment rate in Portugal remained unchanged at 11.9%.
In the period of reference, the estimate of the unemployed population in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 19.5 thousand persons, recording a quarterly increase of 8.6% (+1,547 unemployed persons) and a year-on-year increase of 13.4% (+2,303 persons).
There were 112.8 thousand employed persons, which corresponds to a quarterly decrease of 0.4% (-474 employed persons). Compared to the same period of the previous year the number of employed persons decreased 1.9% (-2,2 thousand employees).
