Estimated unemployment rate was 14.7%

The Labour Force Survey results for the fourth quarter of 2015 indicate that the Unemployment Rate for Madeira was estimated at 14.7%. This value is unchanged from the previous quarter and 0.4 p.p. lower when compared with the same quarter of 2014 (15.1%).

The unemployment rate for Portugal reached 12.2% (11.9% in the previous quarter).

The estimate of the unemployed population in Madeira stood at 19.2 thousand persons, having recorded a quarterly decrease of 1.3% (-253 unemployed persons).

The employed population was estimated at 111.5 thousand persons, representing a quarterly drop of 1.1% (-1,278 persons employed).
