DREM releases the “International Trade Statistics-2015” publication
DREM releases today the annual publication “International Trade Statistics” (only available in Portuguese) which includes the provisional data for the year of 2015. The publication tables also include the final results for 2013 and 2014.
Summary of the main indicators
In 2015, the trade balance of goods of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries registered a deficit of 25.9 million Euros. In the previous year, the trade deficit had stood at 6.3 million Euros, the smallest deficit since 1979.
From 2014 to 2015, both exports and imports decreased by 16.5% and 0.9%, respectively. Madeira had a foreign trade surplus with Third Countries (63.7 million Euros) and a deficit with the INTRA-EU countries (-89.6 million Euros).
Exports for INTRA-EU countries increased from 26.2 million Euros in 2014 to 26.7 million Euros in 2015, while imports from those countries rose from 110.0 million Euros in 2014 to 116.3 million Euros in 2015.
There was a decrease In the trade with Third Countries, since exports dwindled from 99.6 in 2014 to 78.3 million Euros in 2015, while in the same order, imports from those countries declined from 22.0 to 14.6 million Euros.
