In the first semester of 2023
Weighted annual average daily traffic on the Via Rápida increased by 10.6% compared to the same semester of the preceding year
According to information provided by the Regional Directorate of Roads, during the first semester of 2023, the road traffic count increased by 10.3% on the Via Rápida and by 14.0% on the Vias Expresso compared to the same period in 2022. When compared to 2019, the growth was even higher, at 16.0% and 25.0%, respectively. In the concessioned roads, these increases compared to the first semester of 2022 were driven by light vehicle traffic (+10.5% on the Via Rápida; +14.6% on the Vias Expresso). In the case of heavy vehicle traffic, there was also a positive change on the Via Rápida (+2.8%), although of a smaller magnitude. However, on the Vias Expresso, there was an 8.3% decline in this type of vehicle traffic.
During the first semester of 2023, the weighted annual average daily traffic registered, on average, approximately 35.0 thousand vehicles on the Via Rápida and about 6.4 thousand on the Vias Expresso, representing increases of +10.6% and +14.2%, respectively, in the same order. The evolution of light vehicle traffic (+10.9% on the Via Rápida; +14.8% on the Vias Expresso) had a significant impact on the overall change. Due to the small share of heavy vehicle traffic (respectively, 2.4% and 2.2% of the total), the changes over 2022 (+2.5% on the Via Rápida; -7.7% on the Vias Expresso) had little influence on the overall indicator's trend.
