In the first quarter of 2024
Weighted annual average daily traffic on the Via Rápida increased by 2.2% compared to the same quarter of the previous year
According to data provided by the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRE), in the first quarter of 2024, the road traffic count increased by 3.2% on the Via Rápida and by 6.6% on Vias Expresso compared to the same period in 2023. In the privately operated roads, the aforementioned increases compared to the first quarter of 2023 were driven by light traffic (+3.4% on the Via Rápida; +6.7% on Vias Expresso). For heavy traffic, there was a negative change on the Via Rápida (-3.4%) and on Vias Expresso (-0.3%), with the latter exhibiting a smaller magnitude.
In the first quarter of 2024, the weighted annual average daily traffic recorded, on average, nearly 35.2 thousand vehicles on the Via Rápida and 6.5 thousand vehicles on Vias Expresso, representing year-on-year increases of +2.2% and +6.0%, respectively. The evolution of light traffic (+2.4% on the Via Rápida; +6.2% on Vias Expresso) had a decisive impact on that overall change. Due to the limited representation of heavy traffic (respectively, 2.2% and 2.0% of the total), the changes compared to the same quarter of 2023 (-3.6% on the Via Rápida; +1.1% on Vias Expresso) had little influence on the overall indicator.

Note: The weighted annual average daily traffic corresponds to the number of vehicles that, on average, travel the length of each road every day.
