In the 1st quarter 2016
Landed catch, livestock slaughtering, egg production and poultry meat registered year-on-year increases
In the first three months of 2016 the egg production stood at 6.3 million units, increasing by 14.7% year-on-year.
In the same period, poultry meat totaled 1,066.4 tonnes, increasing by 15.6% compared to the same period of 2015.
Between January and March 2016, the weight of the slaughtered livestock rose by 10.2% year-on-year.
The data on landed catch show a 10.2% growth in volume in the first three months of 2016 and a 6.3% increase in first sale receipts, compared to the same period of last year.
This growth was mainly driven by the increase in the catch of tuna and tuna-like species (+85.3% in volume and +91.5% in first sale receipts). The catch of black scabbardfish decreased by 12.7% year-on year, while the first sale receipts generated by this species dropped by 2.7%.
