In the 3rd quarter of 2024
Value of transacted dwellings in the Autonomous Region of Madeira reached a new all-time high
In the 3rd quarter of 2024, a total of 977 dwellings were transacted in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), representing a quarterly increase of 16.9% and a year-on-year increase of 11.4%.
Of the total dwellings sold during the quarter, 705 were related to existing dwellings (72.2% of the total), while the remaining 272 (27.8%) were new dwellings. Compared to the previous quarter, both types of dwellings showed growth, with sales of existing dwellings increasing by 8.5% and sales of new dwellings rising by 46.2%. When compared with the same quarter of the previous year, there were changes of +25.9% and -14.2%, respectively, for these two categories.
The value of transacted dwellings during this quarter reached a new quarterly maximum of 232.8 million euros, reflecting increases of 23.2% over the previous quarter (189.0 million euros) and 9.8% compared to the same quarter of the previous year (212.1 million euros). For new dwellings, the sales value reached 79.6 million euros (+56.6% and -18.7% compared to the previous and year-on-year quarters, respectively). For existing dwellings, the sales value stood at 153.3 million euros, showing increases of 11.0% and 34.2% compared to the previous and year-on-year quarters, respectively.
In the referenced quarter, the households acquired 804 dwellings, marking increases of 16.5% and 12.6% compared to the previous and year-on-year quarters, respectively. In terms of value, transactions of this nature amounted to 198.9 million euros, +25.4% than in the previous quarter and +13.2% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2023.
For the first nine months of 2024 (January to September), 2 509 dwellings were transacted, amounting to a total sales value of 582.5 million euros. Compared to the same period in 2023, these figures represent changes of -2.4% and -1.8%, respectively.
Nationwide, a total of 40.9 thousand dwellings were transacted in the 3rd quarter of 2024, which represents a quarterly increase of 10.2% and a year-on-year growth of 19.4%. These transactions generated a total of 9.1 billion euros, +14.9% than in the 2nd quarter of 2024 and +28.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.
