In the third quarter of 2015

Main fuels released for consumption increased by 0.2% year-on-year

In the third quarter of 2015, the main fuels released for consumption (diesel oil and gasoline) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira topped 35.0 million litres, increasing by 0.2% compared to the same period of 2014.  24.2 million litres of the main fuel – diesel oil - were released for consumption in the reference period, -0.1% than in the corresponding period of the previous year. In the case of gasolines, the demand for unleaded 95 gasoline rose by 0.4% while the demand for unleaded 98 increased by 2.8%. The sales of these fuels were 9.0 and 1.9 million litres, respectively.

Taking in consideration the January to September period, the data reveal that the volume of the main fuels released for consumption stood at 100.0 million litres, decreasing by 0.1% compared to the same period of 2014. The volume of diesel oil released for consumption remained unchanged while unleaded 95 gasoline dropped by 1.3% and unleaded 98 gasoline rose by 4.3% year-on-year.

Concerning gas, the release for consumption of propane and butane in the first nine months of 2015 stood at 11.7 (+12.7% than in the same period of the previous year) and 4.3 thousand tonnes (-17.7%), respectively.

Mean prices dropped

In the 3rd quarter of 2015, the mean price for diesel oil was €1.151, lower than the one registered in the corresponding quarter of 2014 (€1.333). If compared to the previous quarter, the price of this type of fuel shows a decrease of €0.052.

The mean price for unleaded 95 gasoline was €1.537, down by €0.140 compared to the 3rd quarter of 2014 and also €0.010 lower than in the previous quarter.
