DREM releases business plan and assessment and accountability framework for 2019
After the favorable opinion given in the last meeting held on the 12th December by the Statistical Council, the Regional Directorate of Statistics releases today the business plan for 2019.
This plan takes into account all the production and dissemination of statistics carried out by DREM, both as a delegation of Statistics Portugal and as a regional statistical authority.
The goals and activities outlined for 2019 reflect the commitment and determination of DREM to respond with independence and effectiveness to the requests of information – coming from policy makers and general public - who increasingly seek relevant, high-quality and updated statistical information about the present economic, financial and social situation.
257 data releases deriving from 109 statistical operations and other statistical activities are scheduled for 2019 (238 data releases and 105 statistical operations in 2018). Other data releases, not mentioned in the dissemination calendar can also take place sporadically.
DREM also releases today its assessment and accountability framework for 2019, containing the strategic and operational goals to be achieved next year are set out.
The dissemination calendar for 2019 is also made available today, containing all data releases planned for this year with the respective date for each release.
The dissemination policy of DREM relies in the use of its website as the preferential channel for the dissemination of official statistical information, free of charge, and available through different products, namely: “In focus” - a statistical analysis of the published results, “Press release" - a summary, with the main results of the released data, “Tables", "Publications" and “Time Series”.
DREM is aware of the globalisation process, in which English is the predominant language. A significant part of the information that is released is also available in English, particularly the “Press releases”, the “Tables” and the “Time Series”, allowing foreign users to know the Autonomous Region of Madeira from a statistical viewpoint. These statistics can also work as a supportive instrument in the connections established by residents with non-residents of many foreign countries.
Data dissemination is a crucial stage of the statistical production process, which gives visibility to DREM, representing also the materialisation of our Mission, i.e., to produce and disseminate official and high-quality statistical information that can respond in an effective and independent manner to the needs of information of a Society in constant change and increasingly demanding with regard to the relevance, quality and opportunity of that same information.
