In the 1st quarter of 2026

Weighted annual average daily traffic on the Via Rápida increased by 2.7% compared to the same period of the previous year

According to information made available by the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRE), in the first quarter of 2026, an average of 38.3 thousand light vehicles per day were recorded on the Via Rápida and 7.2 thousand on the Vias Expresso, representing year-on-year increases of 2.7% and 3.5%, respectively.

On the concession roads, it was the change in light vehicle traffic (+2.7% on the Via Rápida; +3.5% on the Vias Expresso) that determined the overall change, as the limited share of heavy vehicle traffic (2.3% and 2.1% of the total, respectively) had little bearing on the overall evolution of this indicator, with year-on-year changes of +3.7% on the Via Rápida and +4.4% on the Vias Expresso.

In the 1st quarter of 2026, road traffic counts increased by 2.7% on the Via Rápida and 4.4% on the Vias Expresso, compared to the same period of 2025. As observed in the weighted annual average traffic, light vehicle traffic — accounting for 97.8% of total traffic on the Via Rápida and 97.9% on the Vias Expresso — was the main driver of this increase on both roads, recording year-on-year changes identical to those of the total count (+2.7% on the Via Rápida and +4.4% on the Vias Expresso). Year-on-year increases were also recorded in heavy vehicle traffic, both on the Via Rápida (+3.8%) and on the Vias Expresso (+5.2%).

Note: The weighted annual average daily traffic corresponds to the number of vehicles that, on average, travel the full length of each road every day.
